'Assam Lemon' Assam is the home to many exotic citrus fruits. One of the most common and popular citrus fruit found in this state is the Kaji nemu (Assam lemon). This is an indigenous lemon of Assam and it has certain uniqueness in terms of quality which is essentially attributable to its place of origin i. e., Assam. 'Kaji Nemu' fruit is widely used for culinary, beverages, industrial and medicinal uses. It is comparatively larger than the regular lemon. It has a tendency of cluster bearing habit which generally produces seedless fruits with 9-12 segments. 'Kaji nemu' is sour in taste due to the organics acids present in juice predominantly citric acid with aroma mainly coming from peel in the form of essential oils. The uniqueness of the fruit lies in its bearing habit. Even if it gets ripened it doesn't fall from the tree up to a very long period. Fruit are born in clusters on new shoots.

'Ginger & Turmeric' Assam is a traditionally horticultural State and the socio - economic fabric of its people is largely constituted by horticultural components.Ginger, being a major spice crop commercial cultivation is mostly confined to two hill district and in Sadia sub-division of Tinsukia district. Local varieties dominated in most districts. Moran Ada is admired for high oleoresin content; while Rio -de-generio dominates in Sadia area. Mizo lange variety is predominantly grown in Karbi anglong and N.C. Hills. Both these varieties have export potential and also well fitted for processing and value addition. The fore most obstacle in commercialization of this sector is poor communication to the centers of production and as such paving the way for middleman exploitation and lack of processing units. Turmeric is a house hold crop in Assam , commercial cultivation has started only in small scale.
